An Anti-Bullying Picture & Story – Emilie and the Ball

By webadmin on December 6th, 2011

Here is a This is How submission from five-year-old Anastasia Sulek-Popov. Anastasia wants to end bullying because “bullying is being not nice. It makes me feel sad seeing people bully other people.” Anastasia also believes that “playing with the people who are getting bullied will fix bullying.” We agree, Anastasia! Being kind and friendly always helps.

Anastasia’s story is about sharing. Mom Christine weighed in and said Anastasia really wanted to let people know (with her story and picture) that everyone should share and get along with one another, because if we did so, the world would be a better place. So simple, yet so very true. We can all learn a thing or two from our children.

Thank you for your submission, Anastasia! We love your blue sky and all of the colours in your picture. Good luck with the contest!

One day there was a little girl named Emilie and she was playing with her friend Emma in her backyard. Emilie had a ball but she wouldn’t share it with her friend. This made Emma feel very sad. Emilie also had a kitty that was purple and she wouldn’t let Emma even touch the kitty.

Jack and His Hat
by Klara Sulek-Popov, age 7 years

One day Marina and her friend Sonia were playing in the schoolyard and Sonia started to pick on Jack.  Jack was wearing a crazy hat from somewhere far away and Sonia didn’t like it.  Jack said “I don’t care what you say!  You’re not the boss of me!”.  Marina said to Sonia “You aren’t the boss of Jack.  You are the boss of yourself and not of Jack.”  Sonia said “You’re right.  I’m not the boss of Jack.  I’m going to stop picking on Jack.”

Sonia and Marina asked Jack “Would you like to play with us, Jack?” and he said “Yes!”.  Jack played with Marina and Sonia and he told them about his hat.  It came from his Grandma and it was a Christmas present.  His Grandma was someone he loved and he missed her.

“I like your hat because you like it Jack”, said Sonia.  “And all that matters is that you like it!” and they all became best friends.
